Dalit & Brahmin Lesbian Couple Gets Married: Unique Case Which Breaks Barrier of Caste & Gender in Agra
The police are now trying to tackle the situation because same sex marriage is not legal in the country.
Agra, April 23: It is very rare that one gets to witness such things in the country, amidst all the negative news about crimes and caste hogging the limelight. Recently in Agra, two lesbian girls, one Dalit and the other a Brahmin got married and it happened, during a community marriage ceremony. According to reports, their parents refused to give their consent in the marriage, in fact, when their parents arranged their marriages with others, they got annoyed and eloped.
They got themselves registered at a mass Dalit community marriage on April 16. They used ‘fake parents’ to solemnize the marriage on the day. After taking the vow, they rented a house and started living together. One of the girl's parent's found out about their union and objected to it. The girls refused to separate and threatened to commit suicide.
Their parents' called the cops, who took them to the Mahila Police Station for counselling. However, the girls have refused to budge from their decision. The police are now trying to tackle the situation because same-sex marriage is not legal in the country.
