Hyderabad, September 17: In a shocking claim made by the Congress party, there is a voter in Telanga who is aged 2,017 years old. According to a PTI report, the voter's list released by the Election Commission of India for Telangana has more than 21,000 voters between the age group of 100 and 2017 years. Abhishek Manu Singhvi presented these details recently at a press conference. Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018 Name in Voter Slip: How to Check Online Voter List at ceokarnatakatemp.kar.nic.in And Print Voter ID on nvsp.in.
Singhvi, as quoted in the report, said, "Just like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chattisgarh, Telangana has a list of 70 lakh voters who either have duplicate names or missing names. The numbers are through our private investigation, one can imagine how much more could come to light if it is officially done."
The Congress has already moved a petition in the Supreme Court on alleged discrepancies in electoral rolls in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, where polls are due to this year-end. He elaborated that out of the total 70 lakh discrepancies, names of over 30 lakh voters were duplicated and 20 lakh deleted on the pretext that they have left for Andhra Pradesh. The party wants EC to immediately intervene in the matter and check the discrepancies.
The Congress leader said the EC needs to ensure the sanctity of voter rolls, cannot choose to be a silent spectator on this grave issue. The party demands that the poll panel goes all out to restore faith by pro-actively attending to concerns of all stakeholders in an election, Singhvi said.
