Chennai Traffic Police Thrash 21-Year-Old For Not Wearing Helmet, Mother Keeps Pleading For Mercy: Watch Video

Chennai, Apr 3: In a video doing rounds on social media, the traffic police in Chennai could be seen brutally thrashing a youth for violating rules. During the assault, his mother and son, who were held by women constable, kept pleading for mercy.

Reports claim the 21-year-old youth was caught by the traffic police on Sunday for riding triple, apart from not wearing the helmet. A verbal argument broke out between the accused the cops, which led the latter to launch a merciless assault.

The youth was identified as M Prakash. In the video shared below, one could see the traffic police holding him close to an electric pole and dealting severe blows on him. The cops are also attempting to snatch something from his palm, which could possibly be his license or keys of his two-wheeler.

The incident sparked outrage in Tamil Nadu, with DMK MP Kanimozhi condemning the behaviour of the police personnel.

Even as the outrage is directed towards the traffic cops, the assaulted youth has been taken into custody after booking him under IPC Sections 294 (b) (uttering obscene words in public place), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees). He is currently lodged in the Puzhal prison.
