There are about 27,363 potholes in Mumbai that is way beyond the target mark to get the city into record books, according to a citizens' group.
Mumbai, August 30: People in the city have been hassled with the numerous potholes in Mumbai and the accidents that have occurred due to it. Several campaigns have been started by politicians, RJs, and others to highlight the issue so that the problem is solved, however, it still continues to be one of the burning issues. According to a Lokmat report, District guardian minister and state energy minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule recently travelled in local trains in order to avoid traffic and potholes on the street.
Reportedly, Bavankule had gone from CSMT to inspect the LSE dispatch center for supplying power to Maharashtra and to take a review meeting. Maharashtra PWD Minister Chandrakant Patil is under fire from the Opposition for changing the deadline for fixing potholes on Mumbai roads and other parts of the state for the third time in three years. Interestingly, the date remains the same - December 15. In 2016, Patil had even promised to give Rs 1,000 to every person spotting a pothole on Mumbai roads after December 15, 2016. There are about 27,363 potholes in Mumbai that is way beyond the target mark to get the city into record books, according to a citizens' group. The group, headed by Navin Lade, general secretary of the employment wing of the Republican Party of India, aimed to identify at least 2000 potholes in Mumbai. Lade, on behalf of Mumbaikars, also applied to Guinness World records and Limca Book of Record for having the maximum number of potholes on the roads.
