CBSE Paper Leak: Raj Thackeray Calls For Boycott of Re-Examinations
"Why do they want students to re-appear for exam? I request to the parents throughout the country, don't let your child sit for re-examination in any condition," Raj Thackeray said.
Mumbai, Mar 30: In his reaction to the CBSE paper leak controversy, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray appealed the parents of over 20 lakh students to not to send their children for the re-examinations.
Thackeray's controversial boycott call comes a couple of days after the Central Board of Secondary Education said it would re-conduct the examination for Class 10th Mathematic paper and Class 12th Economics.
"It is the failure of the government. They failed to prevent the paper leak. Now, why should students suffer," Thackeray said.
"Why do they want students to re-appear for exam? I request to the parents throughout the country, don't let your child sit for re-examination in any condition," he added.
The paper leak drew massive flak towards the central government, along with the CBSE, with students taking out a procession on Thursday at the Ramlila Maidan.
In view of the unrest created by the paper leaks, the Delhi Police on Friday imposed section 144 in the vicinity of HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar's residence.
Javadekar, while addressing the press yesterday, said he has "lost his sleep" after the paper leak came to light.
Reports claim Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his displeasure to Javadekar.
In the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Delhi Police, a total of 25 individuals were rounded up, with two separate FIRs being registered. The investigators are also scanning 40-50 WhatsApp groups, reports said.
