New Delhi, July 6: The mystery over the deaths of 11 members of a family in Burari is getting murkier. While the probe backed the 'mass suicide' theory, a fresh development in the Burari deaths case has left many questions unanswered. The appearance of a bucket with freshly washed clothes in it on rooftop of the Bhatia family house is spreading fear in neighbourhood.

In a fresh development, TV reports aired a video which showed a female occult, identified as Maa Geeta, confessing to have "pushed the family to commit suicide. Read more about it here.

On July 1 when the bodies were found hanging, cops took pictures of the entire house including the rooftop. The July 1 picture of the rooftop showed nothing out of the ordinary. However, on July 4, another picture was taken which showed a bucket with freshly washed clothes in it. Notably, the house remained completely sealed since the mass suicide was discovered on Sunday.

According to a report of Dainik Bhaskar, neighbours are scared because of the emergence of 'ghost bucket'. Locals want the house to be converted into a temple avert any harm by 'negative spirits'. Many people who were living in rented rooms around the Bhatia family house have reportedly vacated their lodgings since the incident came to light.

Investigators, however, are convinced that it was a case of mass suicide in a ritual practice by the family suffering from a shared psychological disorder. "The Crime Branch has sent its case report to Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik who is all set to close the case and submit the final closure to the Home Ministry," a police officer told IANS.

11 bodies - seven females and four males - were recovered from a two-storey house on July 1. Ten of them were hanging with their hands tied, mouths gagged and eyes covered with cloth pieces. The eldest in the Bhatia family -- which was mainly into grocery and plywood businesses -- was found lying dead.

The family was not expecting to die and thought that "the earth will shake" and "there will be thunder in the sky", following which they will be saved.
