Brisbane, April 6: A 65-year old Indian woman sparked an emergency at a busy international airport in Australia after her checked luggage had "Bomb to Brisbane" written on it. The note left the fellow passengers in a frenzy at the baggage claim counter at Brisbane Airport.

The bag which belonged to Venkata Lakshmi, a 65-year-old grandmother from India created panic at the airport soon after it arrived at the baggage carousel. It must be noted that the “Bomb to Brisbane” meant Bombay (Mumbai) to Brisbane.

As per reports, passengers at Brisbane Airport have reportedly ushered away and the area cordoned off after a bag with ‘Bomb to Brisbane’ after the bag created commotion at the airport. Lakshmi didn’t know what commotion her innocent mistake could cost! According to a report by Indian Express, her small mistake on the luggage tag led to a serious interrogation by the Australian Federal Police.

According to a report, as passengers went to collect their luggage, a female passenger spotted the suspicious item. “It was with a whole bunch of bags and I just saw the word ‘bomb’,” the woman told Yahoo7 News on condition of anonymity.  The Indian Express report further states that the Police asked the owner of the bag to open it and asked what the ‘BOMB’ written on the tag meant. Lakshmi innocently replied, ‘It’s for Bombay!'”

Lakshmi’s daughter, Devi Jothiraj, however, revealed her mother has limited English knowledge. The daughter informed that her mother was very curious about flying alone from Mumbai for her birthday celebrations.

A police spokesperson confirmed about the incident saying, “An area near a baggage carousel was cordoned off and the item was examined in accordance with routine protocols and was not deemed to be suspicious”.
