BMC Employee Who Stalked, Abused & Demanded Sexual Favours from His Female Colleague Arrested

In 2016, Yewalkar allegedly called her and asked for sexual favours, post which the woman went and complained to the police.

Mumbai, April 23: A 50-year old Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official who used to repeatedly stalk, abuse and pass lewd comments on a woman colleague has been arrested. According to a report on Times of India, the accused, Kishore Yewalkar was assigned with the task of carrying out census since 2011 in Mumbai. BMC had formed a team under Yewalkar and the victim was part of his team. As per reports, all the members had exchanged their mobile numbers for coordination purpose.

The accused then started giving missed calls to the woman and started sending her messages and stalking her. In 2016, Yewalkar allegedly called her and asked for sexual favours, post which the woman went and complained to the police.

Reportedly, police have booked Yewalkar under IPC sections 354, 354 d and 509 for outraging the modesty of a woman,stalking and harassing and passing word, gesture or act intended to insult a woman’s modesty. The case of sexual harassment at workplace is not new. Recently,  actor Sri Reddy alleged that many producers and directors in Tollywood demanded her nude photos and videos for a film role. Post that, several leading ladies opened up about their experiences.  Cases of sexual harassment against actor and singer Ali Zafar has come up, post Meesha Shafi opened up about Zafar subjecting her to "sexual harassment of a physical nature".
