Bhopal, Feb 18: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Janardan Mishra drew applause on social media after he posted a video of himself cleaning a school toilet. Mishra, who represents the Rewa seat in Lok Sabha, was asked by a government school children in his constituency to ensure the toilet is unclogged as it has turned unusable.
Mishra, instead of ordering his subordinates to get the toilet cleaned, took the matter in his own hands. In what he described as his commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign, the BJP lawmaker went to the school and literally unclogged the toilet with his bare hands. Here is the video:
The video was uploaded by Mishra on Friday. Later in the day, he was also spotted sweeping a street in Rewa Nagar.
In an earlier video shared by Mishra on his Twitter account, the Rewa MP is seen clipping the nails of students during an inspection at a state-run school in Nayi Garhi. He also gave bath to some students who were unable to take shower before coming to school.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, to which Mishra has committed his work, was launched by PM Modi on October 2, 2014. The programme aims to make India a "clean nation" by 2019, when the country would observe the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
