Kolkata, June 21: Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh is in the midst of a fresh controversy over his 'direct encounte' threat to Trinamool Congress leaders while addressing party supporters in a Jalpaiguri protest meeting. According to a Times of India report, Police have lodged a “suo motu” complaint against the leader. Ghosh has been quoted as saying, “I would like to tell those TMC (Trinamool Congress) leaders who are doing netagiri now that they will either go to jail or face encounters. (Hoye jail nahole soja suji encounter hobe)”

“There will be bombs in retaliation to bombs. There will be guns in retaliation to guns. Aar lathir bodole lathi to cholche (lathis are being responded to by lathis),” he further added.

Reportedly, TMC leader Rabindra Nath Ghosh has said that criminal charges should be slapped against Dilip Ghosh for his open threat, and that he should be put in jail immediately. However, Dilip has defended his statements and has been quoted in the TOI report saying, "I have said everything in public. When people are being assaulted and tortured and yet police refuse to act, they can’t be expected to talk in any other language. When I referred to encounters, I referred to those people who are essentially miscreants and criminals garbed as politicians.”
