Bhopal, Jun 27: Neelam Abhay Mishra, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Semaria in Madhya Pradesh, broke down on the floor of the state Assembly on Tuesday. During zero hour, Neelam alleged harassment by police at the behest of 'a local minister'. The BJP legislator reportedly mentioned Mining and Industry Minister Rajendra Shukla's name outside the Assembly.
“Under the influence of local minister, the police administration is harassing my husband and family members… Because I had raised the issue of illegal mining he is taking revenge," Neelam alleged in Madhya Pradesh Assembly. She later sat on a dharna in the well of the House after she learned that her husband was detained by police in Dewas.
Minister Rajendra Shukla, however, rejected the allegations and said Neelam wanted publicity through this. Shukla also said that she was preparing ground to join the Congress. Neelam's husband was earlier booked by police for allegedly assaulting a police official on duty. This might be the reason of her outburst, Shukla claimed.
