Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb, is in the habit of attracting unnecessary controversies over his irrelevant comments on everything. Reportedly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah has summoned Deb on May 2 in the national capital. PM Modi has asked party leaders to refrain from making "irresponsible" statements, saying such comments hurt the party's image.
According to a report on DNA, PM said that there is no point blaming the media always because there are leaders at times, who make such statements in front of the media, that they end up providing masala. "Don't blame the media. It is doing its job. It's our job not to get entangled in everything and guide the nation on every issue by standing in front of the TV. Those with the responsibility of speaking on the issue will do it," he said.
On Sunday, Deb had a piece of career advice for mechanical engineers, as he thinks, that those from this stream should join the civil services, only those from civil engineering stream should.
Deb last Thursday, faced immense flak when he questioned the 'beauty' of Diana Hayden, the former Miss World. He had said, "We see women as goddess Laxmi, Saraswati. Aishwarya Rai represents the Indian women. She became the Miss World, and that's all right. But I do not understand the beauty of Diana Hayden." He even went on to the point that the international beauty contests were a farce as the results were all predetermined. The beauty queen slammed him for his racist statement.
From giving his views on government jobs, milking cows, internet in Mahabharata era, Deb is considered as internet's favourite controversy child.
