Bihar: Wrong Man Granted Bail in a Case of Mistaken Identity, Advocate Calls it 'Slip of Pen'
In a case of mistaken identity, a person was granted bail by mistake, instead of the original person. The advocate who granted the bail calls it 'slip of pen' and admits that it was not done intentionally.
Patna, July 30: In an 'error of pen', a man named Gul Mohammed was released on bail instead of a man with a similar name. According to an ANI tweet, the mistake happened due to a clerical error in Siwan. MA Khan, the advocate of the man who was granted the bail said, "It was a clerical error, it was not intentional. We can call it 'slip of pen'. Bihar: Witness in Murder Case of Former Siwan MP Shahabuddin's Nephew Yusuf Shot Dead.
Last year, in a case of mistaken identity and shoddy investigation by police, a daily-wage worker in Bihar was finally proved in the Court that he was the wrong man who was arrested for a crime which he never committed.

In that case, Raju Seth happened to share the first name of the accused, Raju Prasad, a truck driver booked by the cops for causing the death of a man due to negligent driving in Sasaram. Prasad had surrendered before a local court on November 12, 2014, and was granted bail the same day. His bail was cancelled and a non-bailable warrant was issued against him because he failed to frequently appear in the Court on the scheduled dates.
Raju Seth was then arrested by mistake and produced in the Court as Prasad. The harassment continued for two years after which the Court finally found him not guilty in the crime.
