Patna, July 28: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday made a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government and said Rakshas Raj is prevailing in the state under Ravana. Tejashwi Yadav attacked Bihar government following alleged incidents of rape and torture in a shelter home in Muzaffarpur.

Alluding to the characters of the epic Mahabharata, Tejashwi said, "We are staring at statelessness in Bihar. Women are getting abducted akin to what Ravana did to Sita. Girls are getting raped, abducted. Ravana is now ruling the state." Calling the state a Rakshas Raj, he accused the government of shielding the main accused in the shelter home assault case.

Pointing out at the illegal activities carried out at a shelter home, he said, "Several drugs and things related to abortion were being used at the shelter home. Still, the main suspect Brajesh Thakur is being protected by the government. When will he be arrested? Till when minor girls will be raped in the state?".

As many as 34 girls were allegedly tortured, raped and starved by administrators of the shelter home as well as visitors. Earlier the number was reported to be 29. Muzaffarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harpreet Kaur said: "It was not 29 but 34 girls who were raped at the Muzaffarpur shelter home."

Under pressure from the opposition, Nitish Kumar had on Thursday recommended a CBI probe.
