He tweeted to the Mumbai police about the incident and lodged an online complaint.
Mumbai, July 31: People driving on the highway are familiar with cons posing as mechanics coming to scare you that there is spark emanating from the bonnet of your car. A similar incident took place in Mumbai, when a short film maker Kunal Jadhav left his Saki Naka office on Thursday to head to his Navi Mumbai home, according to a Times of India report. Soon a man came to him and raised an alarm about sparks coming from his car's bonnet. Jadav thought that since his car had a CNG cylinder, and because it was not company fitted, he feared that there might be some problem with his car. A little ahead, another man said the same thing; it left Jadav more tensed.
Then there was a mechanic who happened to pass them at that moment, and very reluctantly he checked the vehicle and started acting as if he was changing the parts. The mechanic said he changed parts worth Rs 18,000, Jadav on hearing the exorbitant amount, asked the person to leave immediately, but he refused.
Finally, the mechanic was paid Rs 1,000, and he was made to leave. Next day, when Jadav got his vehicle examined, he came to know that there were no new spare parts in it. He tweeted to the Mumbai police about the incident and lodged an online complaint.
Therefore beware of such people roaming freely in the streets to loot you of your valuables. Don't entertain such frauds. If you are in doubt, when such an alarm is raised, get your vehicle checked at the nearest proper mechanic shop.
