Bengaluru Shocker: Ola Driver Robbed by 4 Men, Forced His Wife to Strip on Video Call

Bengaluru, December 3: In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, an Ola cab driver was robbed by four men in a secluded place. The incident took place on Friday, when the cab driver got a booking from Adugodi and reached the pick-up point. There were four passengers, and they had booked the cab for a trip to Dommasandra, located 22 km from the pick-up point. They demanded money, and according to a Deccan Herald report, the driver withdrew Rs 9,000 from the ATM and gave it to them. The kidnappers further took his Rs 20,000 from the PayTM account and asked his brother-in-law to transfer more money to their bank account. These men asked the driver to make a video call to his wife and forced her to strip. They took screenshots and snatched his phone too.

The driver was taken to a lodge, from where he managed to escape and then went to the Adugodi police station to file a complaint. Police registered a case of kidnapping, robbery, blackmail, assault and outraging the modesty of a woman.

In an official statement by Ola, the spokesperson said, "This is an extremely unfortunate incident and we deeply regret the harrowing experience the driver-partner and his family have allegedly been put through. We strongly condemn such acts of assault and have blacklisted the customer’s Ola account immediately on the complaint being registered with us. We are in touch with the driver-partner to extend support to him, and have been assisting the investigating authorities with all necessary information. We hold our driver-partners in high regard for the work they do as entrepreneurs and stand by them against humiliation or intimidation of any kind.”
