Noida, Sep 21: Two security guards on duty at a bank here were on Friday killed in a failed robbery attempt, police said. The bodies lying in the guard room were discovered by another guard who reached the Punjab National Bank (PNB)'s circle office branch at Sector-1 for his morning shift duty. The deceased guards were identified as Mudrika Prasad, 50, and Mukesh Yadav, 35, both employed with a private security firm. They had been attacked with sticks and sharp objects on their heads between 2 a.m and 4 a.m on Friday, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma said. The attackers gained entry into the bank by using the keys but could not break open the strong room in the basement. The police are suspecting an insider's role in the crime as one theory is that the robbers could possibly be having the keys with them beforehand. "Two masked attackers wearing security guard's dress are seen in the CCTV footage. The suspects have been identified and the investigation is underway and soon the entire plot would be revealed," SSP Sharma told IANS. "No robbery has been reported by the bank. Although the attackers attempted it, they failed to execute," he added. The officer informed that before escaping, the robbers took away the recording of one of the CCTVs to avoid detection. But their actions were caught on another CCTV.
"The accused made a friendly entry as they unlocked the main door with a key and did not cut the lock. There is possibility that some insider may be involved in the crime. We are also examining the previous employees such as ground staff data to establish it," Sharma said.
