Balbharati Introduces New Diksha App to Encourage Digital Learning

Pune, July 3: The Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research, Balbharati of Pune has digitalised the academic content, which can be accessed through the new Diksha app, according to a news report in the Mumbai Mirror. The app, which has been launched on Monday at St. Helena's School in Pune, will help the students learn lessons through an audio-visual mode.

The reports mention that the app was developed by around 250 teachers across the state, who teach various languages. The idea was formulated to take students beyond the lesson through relatable content. Sunil Magar, director of Balbharati, was quoted in the report as saying, “Before this app came to existence, students would just get the PDF documents or extra information about the lessons. But now, students can understand the intricacies of the subject by watching the videos made for each lesson. From classes I to X, there are videos available for every lesson of every subject.”

He was further quoted as saying, “Not just Marathi and English, but students studying in other regional languages like Urdu, Gujarati, and Kannada among others can also use this app which is customised according to eight languages.”

The reports further mention that Balbharati is planning to introduce Wi-Fi and connect all its 66,000 digital schools in the state through it, in a bid to encourage the digital learning.
