Lucknow, Aug 20: Ahead of Bakra Eid 2018, also known as Bakrid or Eid-ul-Adha, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with officials and ordered them to ensure sacrifice of animals was not made in the open. Yogi Adityanath also said that blood and garbage is not dumped in open drains, so that religious sentiment of other communities is not hurt.
Yogi Adityanath reviewed preparations ahead of Bakra Eid on Saturday evening and directed officials to maintain law and order across the state. He asked them to ensure essential services like power and water supply are kept, according to a Times of India report. He also stressed that no protected animal is sacrificed on Eid-ul-Adha.
“The CM focused on law and order and gave instructions that Bakra Eid was to be celebrated in the traditional way but that sacrifice of animals should not be done either in public or in areas which have mixed populations," Muzaffarnagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Omveer Singh was quoted as saying.
To avert any untoward incident, the chief minister asked officials to remain on alert in districts where Kanwar Yatra is in progress. Bakra Eid will be celebrated on August 22 across the country.
