New Delhi, August 16: Former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee's health has deteriorated in the last 24 hours and he is currently on life support, said AIIMS Medical Bulletin on Wednesday. His condition is critical and he was admitted on June 11 because of urinary tract infection. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Smriti Irani rushed to visit ailing PM Vajpayee who is admitted in the hospital for the last two months. Ever since the news of Vajpayee's deteriorating health came out, other ministers also rushed to meet the former Prime Minister. Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, Amit Shah, Harsh Vardhan, Jitendra Singh, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have met the former PM in the last few hours.

According to an ANI news update, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will visit AIIMS to meet the ailing former PM. Rajnath Singh will also visit Vajpayee today at 10:30 am.

Vajpayee, who led the National Democratic Alliance government from 1998-2004, was the first ever person from the BJP to have become the nation's prime minister. He served as prime minister thrice - briefly in 1996, and for two terms between 1998 and 2004.
