Ahmedabad, May 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted searches at the residence of a senior official of the Western Railway in Rajkot.

On May 22, the Central agency had registered an FIR against Ved Prakash Srivastava, a divisional engineer with the Western Railway, and his wife Vibha at Jabalpur for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

The anti-corruption wing of the CBI today conducted searches at Srivastava's official residence in Loco Line Colony in Rajkot, an official of the agency said here.

Before being transferred to Rajkot in December 2017, Srivastava, a native of Jabalpur, was posted as an executive engineer (construction) in Mumbai. He is accused of acquiring properties and movable assets worth Rs 2.16 crore during 1998 to 2018, while his income from legitimate sources would have been Rs 1.33 crore.

The CBI also alleged in the FIR that Srivastava's wife, though a housewife, showed income of Rs 15.78 lakh from salary, house property and other sources in her Income Tax returns.
