New Delhi, Aug 15: Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh on Wednesday announced his decision to quit the party. Ashutosh said he resigned from the AAP due to a personal reason. "Every journey has an end. My association with AAP which was beautiful/revolutionary has also an end.I have resigned from the PARTY/requested PAC to accept the same. It is purely from a very very personal reason," Ashutosh tweeted.

"To media friends. Please respect my privacy. I won’t be giving any bite of any kind," he added. Anchor-turned-politician Ashutosh is among the founding leaders of the AAP. Before joining politics, Ashutosh was associated with IBN7, of TV18 group, as Managing Editor. He contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Chandni Chowk seat and lost to Harsh Vardhan of the BJP.

Ashutosh, who was born as Ashutosh Gupta in 1965 in Varanasi, reportedly dropped his last name against caste prejudice. In 1988, he was amongst the few who took the TOEFL exam in Devnagri script.
