New Delhi, June 4: Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who was admitted in AIIMS for nearly two months, has been discharged. The BJP veteran posted a tweet saying he is delighted to be back home. He also thanked all well-wishers who were concerned for his health.

Jaitley was subsequently put on dialysis, which compelled him to take abeyance from official work. On May 14, he was temporarily relieved of the Finance Ministry charge.

Jaitley had in 2014 underwent a bariatric surgery to treat weight gain because of a long-standing diabetic condition. He was also underwent a heart surgery few years ago.

Jaitley, associated with the BJP since the early '90s, is one of the top rung leaders of the party. In the erstwhile, Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, he held the Information & Broadcasting portfolio. After the BJP stormed to power for the second time since its inception in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi allotted him the Finance portfolio.
