Mumbai, August 13: Underworld don Arun Gawli has topped an examination based on the concept of the ideals of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. According to a Zee News report, Gawli has scored 74 out of a total of 80 marks in the examination, where more than 160 jail inmates had appeared in Nagpur Central Jail. The exam is conducted every year on October 1, on the eve of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Gawli was convicted for the murder of Shiv Sena MLA Kamalakar Jamsandekar in 2008, and awarded life imprisonment by a sessions court in Mumbai. In 2017, based on the life of Arun Gawli, a film named Daddy was released, where actor Arun Rampal essayed the role of the don.
Earlier this year, parole was granted to Gawli after his mother Laxmi Gawli passed away. Gawli was popularly called as Daddy in Dagdi Chawl in Byculla, he then joined politics and floated his own party named the Akhil Bharatiya Sena and his daughter Geeta has served as corporator from Byculla in the past.
