AIADMK has sacked their IT wing joint secretary, Hari Prabhakaran for his offensive tweet, where he compared journalists to street dogs from all party posts. Prabhakaran earlier in the day, tweeted the message-"Reporters are not allowed to shoot inside the hospital during the DCM visit-street dogs who shouts for biscuits will be tied on the gate, rather allowing them inside."

The earlier post is now deleted and two hours back, Prabhakaran issued a clarification on Twitter saying-"All opinions expressed by me are personal and it is not official party view. I'm not authorised to express party views. I heard few people got hurt due to one of my tweet this morning .I don't have any animosity towards any group of people. My apologies to those who are hurt."

Journalists were barred from attending Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam's meeting with those injured in the Tuticorin violence. There was huge violence in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin area, where more than 13 protesters died, demanding the closure of the Sterlite copper smelting plant. The protests have been going on for almost three months now, but it turned violent on the 100th day when police open fired on the people protesting.

Last month, a day after Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit apologied to a woman journalist for patting on her cheek, BJP leader S Ve Shekher made derogatory remarks on her and about other women journalists through a Facebook post.
