Bhopal, Feb 14: A Lieutenant Colonel-rank personnel has been detained in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur by the Army's counter-intelligence wing after he allegedly fall prey to 'honey trap' — a strategy used by adversaries to extract information by enticing the targets.

The officer detained was working in the Jabalpur workshop, news agency ANI reported, citing sources. More details are awaited.

The detention of the Lt Colonel-rank official comes barely a week after Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Arun Marwaha was arrested on charges of sharing sensitive information to Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI).

Marwaha, who was the Director of Para Operations, came under the radar of counter-intel wing after he clicked pictures at the restricted zones of the IAF headquarters.

Probe revealed that Marwaha was enticed by Pakistani ISI operatives using two fake social media accounts, with the name of 'Kiran Randhawa' and 'Mahima Patel'.

No monetary transactions were recorded, the investigators said, adding that the information was passed on by Marwaha in lieu of sex chats.

The 51-year-old IAF official was taken into custody by Delhi Police on February 9. The FIR registered against him invokes penal action under sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act.
