Srinagar, May 4: Four days after three civilians were shot dead by suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in North Kashmir's Baramulla, a similar attack was perpetrated in the same district on Friday. One casualty was reported in the fresh terror assault.
The deceased civilian has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf. He, along with his wife, was fired upon by the terrorists in Sopore region of Baramulla. Ashraf was declared dead on being taken to the nearest hospital, whereas, his wife was reported to be in critical condition.
On Monday, three civilians were killed by the militants in Khanpora area of Baramulla. The deceased were identified as Asif Ahmad Sheikh, Haseeb Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Asghar. The trio, all in their early 20s', were residents of Kakkar Hamam in Baramulla, a police officer was reported as saying.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference had condemned the militant attack on civilians in North Kashmir, calling it unacceptable to the resistance movement. "(We) strongly condemn (the) killing of 3 youth in Baramulla. Any killing on grounds of political or party affiliations is inhuman and un-Islamic and unacceptable to people and leadership of Kashmir," said Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
The attack on Monday was followed by stone-pelting on a bus ferrying school children in South Kashmir's Shopian, which led to the death of a 14-year-old student.
"Stone throwing incident on a school bus is quite disturbing. One fails to understand why a school bus carrying children was targeted? Those who indulge in such hooliganism should realise that these actions tarnish our movement and provide an opportunity to our adversary to defame it," Farooq added.
