Mumbai, July 3: A part of the footover bridge has collapsed on tracks in Andheri station. According to a report on ANI, it has been identified as Gokhale Bridge connecting Andheri East to West. The mishap has occurred near platform number eight and nine of the Andheri station, and therefore, the local trains going towards Virar and Churchgate have been affected.
As per the sources from railways, the local trains on both the routes are running late. Four fire engines have been rushed to the spot for the rescue operation. Reportedly five people are injured in the incident, and they have been sent to the hospital for treatment. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is there at the spot, and the rescue operation is underway. More details on the same are awaited.

Heavy rains have lashed the city and water-logging has been reported in several areas. According to private weather forecast agency, Skymet, Mumbai has received 110mm of rains in some parts, and waterlogging in low-lying areas of Parel-Dadar has been reported. The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in the city in next 24 to 48 hours.

Rumours were doing the rounds post the bridge collapse that Central Railway trains are also affected. However, Central Railways on their official twitter handle has clarified that the train services are running normally, and there is no reason to panic.
