Amazon, Flipkart Didn't Break Regulations Through Their Selection of Merchants, Brands: CCI
According to a survey by citizen engagement platform LocalCircles, out of every five products sold on e-commerce platforms, one is fake.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) in a ruling late on Tuesday said that Amazon and Flipkart, did not break regulations through their selection of merchants and brands. According to a report on Reuters, the case was brought by the All India Online Vendors Association (AIOVA), which represents more than 3,500 online sellers, complained that Flipkart was using its dominant position to favour select sellers, an argument which the CCI rejected. The body alleged that Flipkart was not adhering to a section of India's anti-trust laws. As per the ruling, quoted in the report, the Commission said, "Looking at the present market construct and structure of online marketplace platforms market in India, it does not appear that any one player in the market is commanding any dominant position at this stage of evolution of the market."

Globally, as well, brands like Alibaba, Amazon are facing the issue of counterfeit products.
