This marks the second day in a row when services of Air India and other carriers were affected at the IGI airport. On Friday, several flights were delayed between 2:30 pm to 5 pm due to the soaring temperature at the national capital.
As per the Palam weather station, the runway of IGI sizzled at 45 degree celsius, which forced some of the carriers to halt their takeoffs. Since the air density is low at such raging temperatures, the takeoff remains a tedious task.
While some carriers resorted to a longer-run at the runway to beat the low air density, others decided to halt the takeoffs till the temperature cooled down.
