Air Hostess, Daughter of Retired Indian Army Major General, Commits Suicide in New Delhi Over Alleged Dowry Harassment
Police have registered a case, and they are questioning the husband, and the family members.
New Delhi, July 16: In a shocking incident, a female flight attendant, working with a German airline, allegedly committed suicide after jumping from the terrace of her residence in South Delhi's Hauz Khas on July 13. The victim, identified as Anissia Batra, was the daughter of a retired Indian Army Major General. According to a PTI report, the husband rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
According to reports, the family of the victim has alleged that she was harassed for dowry, and claimed that it was a murder, not a suicide. The woman was allegedly regularly beaten by her husband, as well as by her in-laws. Before allegedly jumping off from the terrace, the deceased had messaged her husband threatening that she will kill herself. The accused has not been arrested because police have not found any evidence till now highlighting the fact that Batra was married.
The husband, who works as a software engineer, has said that they were having compatibility issues for the past two years ever since they got married. The police has said that the couple had regular fights. Police have registered a case, and they are questioning the husband, and the family members.
