An Ola (app-based taxi service) user Abhishek Mishra who associates himself with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) took to Twitter on Sunday claiming that he cancelled his ride as the driver was a Muslim. With a clear intention to stir a communal debate on social media, the man with a verified Twitter account expressed his dislike towards Muslims stating that did not want to give his money to "Jihadi People". While he continues to receive the expected backlash from Twitterati, Ola cabs responded to the man.
Replying to Abhishek in a tweet, Ola cabs tutored him on secularism and how they expect their customers to be one. Clearing their stand, the taxi service platform said they do not discriminate their driver or customers on the "basis their caste, religion, gender or creed". Calling for peace, the tweet further read, "We urge all our customers and driver partners to treat each other with respect at all times."

Here is what Ola Cabs wrote in reply:
Ola, like our country, is a secular platform, and we don't discriminate our driver partners or customers basis their caste, religion, gender or creed. We urge all our customers and driver partners to treat each other with respect at all times.

With negative reactions against his post started to pour in, he posted another tweet asking if he has "no right to choose". Many Tweeples tweeted asking Ola to ban Mishra while some demanded action against him. According to Mishra's Facebook profile, he is from Ayodhya and works as an IT professional in Lucknow. He is followed on Twitter by ministers of the Union Cabinet, including Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan.
