Aadhaar to Be Linked to Your Driving License? Ravi Shankar Prasad in Talks With Nitin Gadkari
It will be interesting to see, if this move can actually curb crime rates.
Mumbai, June 12: By now you may have linked your Aadhaar card with sim card, bank accounts, and other important papers. Now you may have to link your Aadhaar card with your driving license too. The intention behind the move is to curb the rising menace of drunk driving and the numerous deaths due to it. By doing this, the government expects that the accused, will not be able to evade the lens of the crime, because 'a person can change a name but not his/fingerprints'.
According to ANI, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said, "I am in conversation with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to link Aadhaar card with License so that if a drunk driver escapes from one state to another by killing people, he would be caught. A person can change name not his/her fingerprints."
A few days back, there was news that Aadhaar has become mandatory to complete the final rites Manikarnika Ghat and Harishchandra Ghat in Kashi. Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was recently in the news for his statement, on the occasion of the 4th year completion of Narendra Modi government, where he said "We are cleaning the dirt," implying the damages already done by the Congress party.
