7th Pay Commission Latest News Today: No More Overtime Allowance For Central Government Employees
The 7th Pay Commission had recommended to discontinue overtime allowance for categories other than operational staff and industrial employees.
New Delhi, Jun 27: Implementing of the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission or 7th CPC, the government on Tuesday announced to suspend overtime allowance given to its employees except operational staff.
The 7th Pay Commission had recommended to discontinue overtime allowance for categories other than operational staff and industrial employees. In an order, the Personnel Ministry on Tuesday said it accepted 7th Pay Commission's recommendation of suspending overtime allowance.
The government has decided that given the rise in the pay over the years, the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission to discontinue the overtime allowance for categories other than operational staff and industrial employees who are governed by statutory provisions may be accepted, the order said.
The government has also decided not to revise the rate of overtime allowance or OTA for the operational staff and they would continue to get the amount as per its order issued in 1991. "OTA should be paid only when his/her senior officer directs the concerned employee(s) in writing for staying back in office to attend urgent nature of work," the Personnel Ministry said.
The 7th Pay Commission had recommended a 14.27 per cent increase in basic pay, raising minimum pay from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000 month. The government approved the recommendations in June 2016.
