As #MeToo movement continues to bring out allegations of sexual harassment at workplace, an online survey conducted recently states that 78 percent of women victims of sexual harassment don't report crimes at the workplace. According to the survey, forced physical contact and unwelcome advances were the most common forms of sexual harassment in the workplace.

As per reports, the survey was conducted after a Bollywood actress accused senior actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment during the shooting of a film in 2008. Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar has also been accused of sexual harassment by at least 12 woman journalists and professionals. India's #MeToo Movement Shines on Google Trends: Watch This Interactive Global Map With Live Searches.

Akshay Gupta of LocalCircles, the citizen engagement platform which conducted the exercise said, "Before conducting the survey, it was defined for the participants as to what constituted sexual harassment at workplace."

In the survey, about 50 percent of the respondents identified physical contact and advances as the most common form of sexual harassment. While 31 percent of them said that they were subjected to sexual remarks or showed porn. And the rest 19 per cent said that they were demanded sexual favours. Over 15,000 unique participants located across India polled more than 28,000 votes for the survey. Approximately 40% of respondents were females while the rest were males. The participants were 40% from Tier 1 cities, 28% from Tier 2 cities and 32% from Tier 3 Cities and Rural areas.

Only 22 percent of the victims reported sexual advances at workplaces to the human resource department of the organisation. While 78 percent of respondents said that they have denied reporting such incidents. Of the respondents, 32 per said that they faced sexual harassment at work while 23 per cent did not choose to answer the question. And 45 per cent said that they did not face any sexual harassment at workplaces.
