4 Die as Under Construction Building Collapses in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Feb 15: At least four were killed and eleven others injured after a five-storey under construction building collapsed in Bengaluru's Kasavanahalli region on Thursday.

Bengaluru Mayor Sampath Raj confirmed the death of at least four people, who were employed as labourers at the construction site. The rescue operations were underway by the time this report was published. 15 more workers were reportedly trapped under the debris.

The State Disaster Response Force was pressed into the rescue operations, along with the police personnel. The first rescue team arrived at the site at 4:25 pm, reports said.

The under construction building which fall apart is located in Haralur, on the Central Jail Road in Kasavanahalli. The building is reportedly owned one Kunni Ahmad, who lives in Kerala.

The building was under construction since the past six years, with no major work being carried out over the last two years.

The building collapse incident today comes barely a week after two dilapidated buildings in the city, located in Yeshwanthpur and Jayanagar localities, tilted to one side. No casualties, however, were then reported.
