Ranchi, May 4: A 14-year-old girl in Jharkhand was burnt alive by four men inside her house on Friday. The accused had allegedly gang-raped her on Thursday night.
The incident was reported from the naxal affected district of Chatra. The four men first barged into the victim's house in Raja Tenduah village late night on Thursday and abducted her. The minor was subsequently gang-raped by them.
Earlier in the day, the victim's father approached the village panchayat which punished the accused by making them kneel down 100 times, apart from imposing a fine of Rs 50,000.
Enraged by the punishment, the four men re-entered the house of the victim in the afternoon, and set her ablaze apart from physically assaulting her parents.
The accused are on the run after committing the heinous crime. The police has launched a search operation to nab them.
The Raja Tenduah village, where the crime took place, is located 60 kilometres away from the district headquarters of Chatra. The brutal rape-murder incident comes in the backdrop of nationwide rage over rape cases in Unnao and Kathua - both involving minors.
