Zeenat Aman grabbed headlines after she filed complaint against a businessman for stalking and molestation. The complaint was made at Juhu Police station under the sections 304 D (stalking) and 509 (insulting modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. Sarfaraz alias Aman Khanna (the businessman) was arrested on Thursday evening, DCP (Zone IX) Paramjit Singh Dahiya told PTI. The veteran actress knew 38- year old businessman and then stopped talking after some dispute. Yet, the man kept stalking her.
In past few days, there have been constant reports of actresses voicing against molestation. Recently, Malayalam actress Sanusha Santhosh shared how she was molested in a running train. She also revealed that she was not helped by anyone there, except for a passenger and scriptwriter Unni. She held the accused until the TTE came and then got him arrested at the next station.
Before this incident, South Indian actress Amala Paul also filed a complaint against a man who asked for sexual favours in a vulgar language. The actress was rehearsing for an event in Malaysia, in a dance studio in Chennai, when this incident took place. “I decided to approach police because I felt very unsafe,” the actress said.
We also saw how Dangal star Zaira Wasim raised voice and filed a complaint against a person who allegedly tried to molest her on the flight. The video where Zaira narrated the incident in a shaky voice went viral like wild fire. Not only Bollywood, but even Hollywood stars came out against the producer Harvey Weinstein and his alleged sexual demands to the actresses. Looks like the cine world is seriously not a safe place for the stars anymore until there are quick steps taken against such crimes. Do let us know your take on this in the comments section below.
