YSR Biopic to Hit Screens in 2019, Malayalam Superstar Mammootty to Play Late Andhra Pradesh CM
In YSR's biopic, YS Rajasekhar Reddy's biopic Yatra will focus on the famous 'Padayatra' undertaken by the late Congress in June 2004.
Hyderabad, March 21: The much-awaited biopic of Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy, popularly known as YSR will hit the screens in 2019. YSR, was a two-time Chief Minister of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, serving from 2004 to 2009. YS Rajasekhar Reddy's biopic Yatra will focus on the famous 'Padayatra' undertaken by the late Congress in June 2004. Few other reports inform that the biopic is believed to be released in theatres as Sankranti treat in 2019.
As per reports, Malayalam superstar Mammootty has officially signed to play the role of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. The biopic has been titled Yatra, IB Times reported. In a statement released to the media, the filmmakers confirmed the news of casting Mammootty for the role of YS Rajasekhar Reddy in Yatra. "The movie is slated to go to sets in May 2018 and wrap up the shoot by September 2018. Yatra will be released sometime between Dasara 2018 and Sankranthi 2019," the statement read.
The report further states that the biopic – ‘Yatra' is written and directed by Mahi V Raghav and produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy under their banner 70mm Entertainments. According to a report by Great Andhra, along with YSR, a biopic on late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao is also in the making. Rao, who is popularly known as NTR was an Indian actor, producer, director, editor and politician who served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years over three terms.
In NTR's biopic, his immense popularity following Chaitanya Yatra will be a major episode and the film will end with he becoming the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. The two leaders of Andhra Pradesh YSR and NTR have left their indelible mark on Telugu people of nearly two generations and biopics of both leaders will hit the screens in 2019.
