Ever Since Emraan Hashmi made his Bollywood debut in 2003 with Footpath, the actor has graced the big screen almost every single year. Yes, you heard that right. Initially, the 39-year-old tasted good success with films like Murder, Kalyug, Gangster and few more. Off late, however, his films haven't worked at the box office – be it Hamari Adhuri Kahani, the much-hyped Azhar biopic or Raaz Reboot. In fact, last year Emraan technically had no release except for Danis Tanovic’s Tigers which again had a digital release and not a theatrical one. In 2018, he was seen in the Ajay Devgn starrer Baadshaho which did fairly well at the BO. But overall, there has been no big hit from Emraan in the last few years and that’s one big reason for him to hope that Why Cheat India does well at the ticket windows. Cheat India Trailer: Emraan Hashmi's Fans Have Heavy Expectations From 'Rakesh Singh' and We Hope for the Best! Another reason why it’s important for his latest outing to do well is the fact that apart from playing the lead, Why Cheat India is also Emraan’s first co-production venture. So the stakes are really high for him this time around. Talking about turning a producer, the Jannat actor had said in an interview to a daily, “As an actor, my job was to act and be involved with the promotions but it was always my dream to become a producer. I wanted to sit in at the script level and be part of the entire journey including, being part of the music composition process, of its shoot and the editing.”

Also, Emraan may have gone wrong when it comes to choosing the right films but as an actor, he is still very good and that’s a known fact. All he needs is one good hit and he’ll be back in the game with a bang. Since Why Cheat India is his big solo release after a long time and there is a good buzz around the film courtesy its impressive trailer,  it could very well turn the tables around for Emraan. Cheat India Trailer: Emraan Hashmi 'Khiladi Hai.. Though two more films – Arshad Warsi’s Fraud Saiyaan and Govinda’s Rangeela Raja - are also releasing alongside Why Cheat India, Emraan clearly has an upper hand as he is a more popular actor and plus his film is about corrupt education system which is a very relevant subject in today’s time.

So while the stage is set, let’s hope Why Cheat India does well for Emraan’s sake and gives his acting career the much-needed boost that we all have been waiting for.
