After giving us remarkable performances in movies such as Parineeta, Kahani, Bhool Bhullaiyya to mention a few, Balan has been missing from the big screen for quite some time now. But now she has set her eyes on a new endeavour which will come in the form of a web series.

Yes, Based on veteran journalist Sagarika Ghose's book Indira: India's Most Powerful Prime Minister, makers were toying with the idea of crafting a film or a webseries. We gather that thanks to the extensive research carried out for this book and the heavy content, now a web series has been finalised in which Vidya will play the protagonist.

In her media interaction Vidya Balan elaborated that due to the excessive amount of text, the makers of this production have decided to develop a many part series. “There is too much material for it be made into a film. So, we decided to turn it into a web series. We don’t know how many seasons we will be allotted to it. We are in the process of putting together a team." Vidya revealed, speaking to Mid-Day.

One also learns that due to the rights bagged while writing the books, there's no need to take permission from Gandhi family to portray some key incidents and individuals in  Indira Gandhi's professional as well as personal space. In the day and age when web series are doing well--case in point being Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui's  Sacred Games--Vidya as Indira Gandhi in a brand new web series has really gotten fans excited!
