Sunny Singh's Ujda Chaman opened in theatres on November 1. The movie directed by Abhishek Pathak also stars Maanvi Gagroo. Centred on the life of a balding man, the movie is a comedy about overcoming insecurities and sends a message to society. Ujda Chaman faced its fair share of controversies before release. Another movie on the same lines, Bala, is due to come out in a week. But seems like Ujda Chaman did not get much affected because of it. The first day collections of the film are out and the numbers are quite decent given the budget of the film and the fact that its a debut for actors and director. It is Sunny's first solo outing.
On it's first Friday, Ujda Chaman was able to earn Rs 2.35 crore. Priyanka Chopra starrer The Sky Is Pink collected Rs 2.50 crore on opening day. Arjun Kapoor's India's Most Wanted was only able to mind Rs 2.10 crore on first Friday. So, you see, despite star's pull at the box office, movies have fallen between Rs 2-3 crore bracket this year. Factoring that in, Ujda Chaman has a decent opening. Let us see if the movie is able to earn more bucks over the weekend.
