Yuvraj Singh's Sister-In-Law and MTV Ace Of Space Contestant Akanksha Sharma Granted Divorce From Husband Zoravar Singh!
After filing for divorce in 2015 and a divorce battle prolonging 4 years, Yuvraj Singh's brother Zoravar Singh and his estranged wife Akanksha Sharma were granted a divorce by a Chandigarh Court on September 2, 2019.
For those who are unaware of who Akanksha Sharma is, here's her short bio- Akanksha was cricketer Yuvraj Singh's brother Zoravar Singh's wife, who has been a part of Bigg Boss 11 and MTV Ace of Space 1. Back during her stint in Bigg Boss 11 in 2017, Akanksha Singh, opened a can of worms when she discussed her troubled married life with Zoraver and how her mother-in-law Shabnam's constant interference in her conjugal life tore her and Zoraver apart. Shabnam and Zoraver did not take kindly to Akanksha's revelations on the show and with this, began an intense court battle between both the parties. The pair, who got married on February 27, 2014 in Punjab, had begun living separately from September 2014 and Akanksha filed for a divorce in a Chandigarh court in n February 2015. However, after lengthy 4 years of allegations, counter court cases and mudslinging in the media, Zoraver and Akanksha were granted a divorce by mutual consent on September 2, reports Bombay Times.
In a compromise deed (where cases filed by both parties stand withdrawn) filed by both the parties In July, in the Chandigarh District Court, Akanksha's domestic violence case against Zoraver and his family, Zoravaer and Shabnam's criminal defamation case against Akanksha, Shabnam's civil law-suit against Akanksha worth Rs 2 Crores for damages (she claimed that Akanksha had stolen items and jewellery from the house) now stand withdrawn by mutual consent from both parties. The daily also reported that Akanksha has been paid Rs 48 Lakh as 'past and future alimony, maintenance and settlement of all matrimonial claim'. Also, the compromise deed also states that either of the parties cannot file cases or speak publicly about their issues, and if any such instance happens in the near future, then the other party can re-open their closed cases.
Swaty Singh Malik, Akanksha's lawyer told BT, "Akanksha wanted to close the matter and move on with her life. The marriage lasted only six months and the separation and litigation has been much longer. She did not want to drag a dead relationship any further." Zoraver’s lawyer Damanbir Singh Sobti was also quoted as saying, "I am glad better sense prevailed and the case was settled by mutual consent. We have been striving for that for years now."
After filing for the compromise deed, Akanksha also issued a public apology to Zoraver, Shabnam and Yuvraaj, which was taken into consideration by the court.
