Today's episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai starts with Naira(Shivangi Joshi) reaching the college on her first day, and she bumps into another fresher Tanvi. The girl introduces herself to Naira who is apparently disinterested in any conversation. Later Tanvi walks with Naira as she keeps talking to her. Kartik, on the other hand, calls Swarna to inform her that he is returning. Swarna is now scared that what she heard from Manish about Naira coming back might get true. Swarna wants to delay Kartik's return to Udaipur for this sake. Swarna asks Kartik to stay back and take the lectures for the freshers as requested by the authorities.

Swarna asks him to take his own time, and there is no hurry to return. Kartik is confused and asks Swarna if she is sure about this. Kartik agrees to take the lectures and walks to the staff room. Tanvi spots Kartik and is floored by his charm. She urges Naira to look at him bu Naira is not interested. Later Naira enters her class and is introduced to Kunal. Kunal seems to have the upper hand in the class due to his proximity to the seniors. He asks everyone to bunk the classes and as it would be mass bunk no one would blame any one student.

The entire class says yes, but Naira speaks nothing. Kunal notices her and asks Tanvi if she does not look old for being a fresher. Later he asks her why she did not agree with him and Naira says that she is here to study and will do that and he can do whatever he wants. The coordinator arrives to make the roll call, and so, for now, Kunal settles. Naira notices that her name has been printed wrong again in the register. As the coordinator leaves, Kunal summons his friends the seniors, and they take Naira's class. They ask Naira to dance for them. Naira is disturbed by the idea of dance.

Naira says she will not be able to dance and to this one of them gives her a bunch of roses and asks her to propose to the new guest lecturer in the staff room, and his name is Mr Goenka. Naira is taken aback by the name but then convinces herself that it might be someone else. Naira goes on to find the lecturer and Kartik hears the bell for his class, and he leaves. They miss seeing each other. Naira finds no one in the staff room, and she returns. Kartik gets to the class and asks the seniors to leave. Later he introduces himself as the guest lecturer. Naira walks into the class, but Kartik does not see her. He sees a girl walking in and asks her to get out as he does not like latecomers. Naira is stunned to hear Kartik.
