Today's episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai starts with Devyani speaking to Swarna. She tells Swarna that they wish they had the old stepmother of Kartik and Kirti back because that mother was so good.

Devyani tells Swarna that she should just stop trying to break up Naira(Shivangi Joshi) and Kartik as it is just causing pain to everyone. Kirti watches the two of them.

Naira is hurrying out when she accidentally bumps into Kartik. Kartik has a stamp with him, and Naira's hand gets stamped with Kartik's name. Kartik comes up with a tissue and asks her to wipe it off.

Naksh takes Kirti and Naira to a club to celebrate Naira's admission to a college in Mumbai. Kartik is there too with Ashi. Naira sees Kartik getting congratulated by his friend for throwing a break up party.

Naira gets hurt by this. Later though Kartik clears the misunderstanding and says that it is not a breakup party. Ashi introduces her boyfriend Karan to them and says that it was she who threw the party.

Kartik then sees Naira making a toast for her new life. This hurts him, and he starts drinking. The drinking gets out of hand, and he dances away. He misbehaves with Naira while Naksh tries to stop him.

Kirti and Naksh manage to take the two to respective homes. Swarna and Manish are shocked to see Kartik's condition. Manish lashes out at Kartik. Naira hugs her father to cry.

Next morning Kartik walks down and says sorry, but Manish lashes out at him. Manish says that this has to stop. Swarna blames Naira for this, but Manish tells her that this habit is not a new one.

He reveals to Swarna that Kartik has become an addict. Kartik also says that Naira had tried to stop him, but he couldn't let go of this.
