Another year is ending. We are all set to enter 2020. And let us be honest. The most all of us have achieved in 2019 is binge-watching the shows on the web. India has now gone full-throttle into the digital space. We are churning out web-shows day after day. The saturation point is so far that it is a dot right now. Along with a lot of good Indian web-series, there are some seriously mediocre products as well. More on that later. But for now, we are going to talk about the web shows that hit it out of the court in the year 2019. From Netflix’s Soni to Salman Khan’s Notebook, 8 Underrated Bollywood Movies of the Year That Demand Your Love and Attention.

The digital boom in India is like a golden age. There is wide variety of content available, catering to every taste possible. There is something for everyone. And there are the 5 series that we absolutely loved.

Made in Heaven

The characters in Made in Heaven are far from idealistic. But they are not inhumane either. On surface it might seem like a web-series about two BFFS with a wedding planning business, but the it so much more about intricacies of human emotions. Sobhita Dhulipala plays the scheming, manipulating gold-digger and yet she is so relatable and just...human. Arjun Mathur plays a closeted gay man in a very nuanced performance. You can watch the series on Amazon Prime Video. The show has been produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani and created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar.

Delhi Crime

This hard-hitting crime drama is tough to watch. But important to watch. The series is based on the 2012 Nirabhaya Rape Case. Shefali Shah headlines the cast. Her performance on the show will definitely go down in history as one of the best. The story, acting, editing, music - everything about the show is made of steel. This one is so heart-wrenching that it becomes tough to even watch it. You can watch the series on Netflix.

Kaafir

Dia Mirza stars in this beautiful show about complexities of humanity. Mohit Raina is the male lead. Both the actor give their career best performance in Kaafir. In her review, Aarty Iyenger for LatestLY wrote, "[Kaafir] is beautiful and speaks about humanity in ways that need to be propagated in today's time." You can watch the series on Zee5.

The Family Man

Starring Manoj Bajpayee, this series is an entertaining ride, start to finish. Makers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK pack this show with comic brilliance. Manoj Bajpayee brings his A-game. Sharib Hashmi leaves a strong impact.

Criminal Justice

The show is an adaptation of the British series Criminal Justice by Peter Moffat. Popular HBO series The Night Of is also based on the same series. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, the mini-series stars Vikrant Massey and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles. Jackie Shroff also features in the series, which should be reason enough for fans to watch this one. Themes of bureaucracy, corruption and class are weaved into the story. The actors carry the series on their shoulders with their class apart performances.

There have been some other good series that you can watch. Laakhon Mein Ek season 2 was pretty good. The recently released Inside Edge season 2 is also getting some rave reviews. AltBalaji's M.O.M. is also commendable. Which one is your favourite amongst the series that hit the web this year?
