Mohammed Nagaman Lateef, founder and chairman of International Iconic Awards, has clarified his side of the controversy where Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor Shehzada Dhami was allegedly told to vacate seat for Rajan Shahi.
Former Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor Shehzada Dhami told Siddharth Kannan in an interview that he was asked to leave his seat for producer Rajan Shahi by organisers at the recent International Iconic Awards show. He told the host that when he asked them the reason, they said that Rajan Shahi was going to enter. Dhami also said that the organisers told him that if he did not comply, then he would be blacklisted. In an exclusive statement to Latestly, Mohammed Nagaman Lateef, founder and chairman of International Iconic Awards, has cleared his side of the matter. He claimed that what Shehzada Dhami said was not true. Lateef told us that the whole venue was over-packed with members of the TV and film fraternity, telecast partners, managers and so on. He said most seats were taken up when Rajan Shahi entered with 10 to 15 team members from Anupamaa and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
The Other Side
He told us, “The room was teeming with guests. Shehzada Dhami was sitting alone on a sofa that could have easily seated three to four people. I requested him to move to a seat on the row behind the sofa. Other members of Rajan Shahi shows were seated there, too. Many people kept standing due to a lack of seats, including Rupali Ganguly. Shehzada did not raise an issue; he said ok and moved to the other row. And why would I call him backstage to say this?" Lateef claimed that the hall was filled with over 150 people. He continues, “We had people like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mona Singh, Sunny Leone and more at the event. Rajan Shahi was at the doorway with his team members. If Shehzada had wanted to greet him, he could have walked up to him. He could have told him to have a seat, after all he is his show’s producer. There was no way Rajan Shahi would have spotted where he was seated, given the crowd. When we got Shahi and his team inside, he was seated casually on the sofa. Rajan Shahi is a star maker. Do you really think he will spend time finding who is seated where and have him get up?” We wonder what Shehzada Dhami has to say about these counter-allegations.
The actor was also in the news when he was replaced by Rohit Purohit as Armaan Poddar in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The new Armaan and Abhira (Samriddhi Shukla) are being liked immensely by the fans.
