Sony SAB's much-loved show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been making headlines ever since Disha Vakani, who is known for the portrayal of her character of Daya Ben in the popular comedy show, has been missing from the screens for a long time as she went on maternity leave in 2017. Her impending return seems to be ‘the longest running debatable’ in tinsel town. While various reports cited different reasons behind Disha not returning to the show, recent reports suggested that Disha has been given a 30-day ultimatum by the producer of the show Asit Kumarr Modi to make a decision. However, the producer of the popular sitcom has reacted to it. In a statement to Pinkvilla, Modi said, "We have cooperated a lot due to her [Disha] pregnancy but now it's been a huge sabbatical. If she returns, we are more than happy to have her back but she needs to make a decision soon. If she cannot return due to her 'family issues', we will have to replace her, for the audience who have waiting for Daya's return." Talking about the ultimatum being given to the actress, he added, "There is no such one month ultimatum thing but of course, we cannot wait longer. She needs to inform us as soon as possible for us to take a final call."

Earlier a source close to the development was quoted in the report as saying, "Bas, ab ho gaya. Modi waited ethically how much he and his cast-crew could. Now, Modi says he will just give a concession period of a month, starting today. There has been absolutely no contact between the two parties ever since Dayaben's last day at the shoot. On the personal front, the actress, who got married to Mayur Pandya (a chartered accountant) on November 24, 2015, was blessed with a baby girl in November 2017. Reports indicate that the little bundle of joy arrived nearly two weeks before the delivery date, which was December 20 (2017). The actress had a grand baby shower at her residence in the city, while present at the event were Dilip Joshi, Samay Shah, Munmun Dutta and of course reel son Taapu aka Bhavya Gandhi.
