Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka Review: Shakti Arora – Aditi Sharma’s Intense, Sizzling Chemistry and Drashti Dhami’s Damsel in Distress Avatar Makes This Show Worth a Watch
Here's our review of Shakti Arora, Drashti Dhami and Aditi Sharma's Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka.
After a really long time, we're seeing a one-of-its-kind concept on television. Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka might seem like a "I have seen it before" kind of a show but it's not. It's a different, interesting concept on Indian television. We have seen extra-marital affairs as a part of TV shows but this one revolves around it. The show has a very different take on extra-marital relationship and it's bold. Aditi Sharma and Shakti Arora's chemistry is hot, intense and everything romantic. This is the first time that I'm watching something as exciting as role-play on TV and it has been shown so well.
It doesn't make you uncomfortable or cringe. Shakti (who plays the role of Kunal) and Aditi (who plays the role of Mouli) have everything perfect. They are madly in love with each other, they have a perfect family, they don't have a lot of things in common but love each other a lot. Enter Drashti Dhami, who plays Nandini, Mouli's childhood best friend who doesn't speak with her anymore because of something that happened in the past. Drashti is married to Abhinav Shukla, who apparently only married her because she has a good physique. But he is the abusive kind of husband who can never be anyone's 'dream guy'.
Though the first episode was pretty much just an introduction of their lives it was pretty entertaining. Of course, there were a couple of things the episode could have done without. There is a cliched elderly woman in the show who is very social media savvy and believes in YOLO (You Only Live Once). Continuity is again a problem in the show. This might seem like a petty error but it did irk me a little. While Mouli and Kunal try to get things exciting in their bedroom because it's their anniversary, they don't end up having sex because she gets a work call and he falls asleep till she comes back.
But somehow Dida (the elderly woman) hears noises from their bedroom and teases Mouli about it. First, that's creepy and second, continuity error! Also, the whole bit where Nandini is confused about how to eat with a knife and fork was OTT. I don't know how things work in the high society but they definitely don't give you nasty looks because you don't know how to eat with a knife and a fork. I hope they don't!
Yay!
- Shakti Arora and Aditi Sharma's chemistry is too good
- Loved the role-play reference in the show. It's too bold for Indian TV and was shot beautifully
- The show is keeping in touch with the current mindset of people or reality, if you can call it that
Nay!
- I would have loved it if they hadn't shown Mouli and Kunal as a perfect couple with a perfect family. Too unreal
- There are some cliches that could have been avoided
Final Thoughts!
I would love to see where the story goes and how their lives collide. Hoping that it doesn't get too daily soap-y, if you know what I mean. But otherwise, the first episode has a lot of romance, drama, entertainment and will make you want to catch the rest of the episode.
