2019 has only begun and dancer-choreographer-mentor Shakti Mohan’s dream has already come true. The lady will be making her Bollywood debut with none other than her real-life mentor Remo Dsouza’s dance-based film, that stars ABCD 2 pair Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. Shraddha was recently locked down and she steps into the shoes of none other than Katrina Kaif. A report in Mumbai Mirror confirmed Shraddha’s inclusion in the project and also revealed that Katrina had to opt out of the project because of her date clashes with Salman Khan’s period drama, Bharat. As for Shakti, while acting never was and still isn’t in her scheme of things, the winner of Dance India Dance Season 2 very excitedly confirmed this development and told Hindustan Times, “I can’t believe that this opportunity has finally come my way and I am getting to work with Remo Sir in a dance-based film. I always wanted to do a film like this, and now that I am finally doing it, it makes me feel excited, nervous and happy. I don’t know how I am going to look or act in the film, but I am really looking forward to seeing how it turns out.” Varun Dhawan To Marry Girlfriend Natasha Dalal in November 2019?
Shakti also went on to say that this project was very close to her as it is a dance-based film that is being made by her mentor and teacher Remo Dsouza. Though reluctant to share details of the film and her character, Shakti was quoted in the daily as saying, “I am excited to travel and rehearse with the entire cast. It’s going to be like a picnic with everyone working and spending time together.”
The yet-to-be-titled project will see Varun in the role of a boy from Punjab who grows up in London and revolves around a team of professional dancers representing India in a dance competition. It is also being said that the film will showcase quite some dance face-offs, just like we’ve seen in the Step Up series.
After winning DID 2, Shakti went on to act in Channel V's Dil Dosti Dance . After her stint on the show ended, Shakti went on to participate in Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa and has been one of the mentors on Star Plus' Dance Plus for 4 of its seasons.
